چکیده

There is now increasing interest in active and programmable networking. Increasing amount of research is ongoing on topics ranging from dynamic service and network management, to control plane switch programmability, to active network capsules carrying code in every datagram. This is in addition to the already established trend of added functionality of gateways, proxies and servers in the network. Together the two are accelerating the rate at which advanced functions are being introduced into the network, where service providers attempt to provide enhanced and differentiated services. While different players have different motivation to increase the programmability of network elements, the primary motivation for a service provider is to provide differentiated services using commodity components. Whereas economic reasons drive network providers to use commodity infrastructure technologies for optical transport, switching and servers, service differentiation is essential to maintain profitability. In this paper we report on our work on the programmable interface of network elements. The interface separates the service generic facilities of an otherwise commodity network node from the service specific functions implementing the service model of offered by the network operator. These service specific programs might be provide by end-users, by the service provider, by an independent service developer or by the network element manufacturer. However, the essential issue is that the functions running above the interface do not have nor require intricate knowledge of the implementation of the service generic facilities. In this paper we describe the interface, discuss some of our prototyping of services and applications to verify the functionality of this interface.

An Intelligent Computer Interface Utilizing Parallel Picocontrollers (TECHNICAL NOTE)

The design of an interface unit is described, in which RS232 serial data is converted to latched parallel data on 22 independent lines. The data direction of each line is programmable through the serial port. Two picocontrollers are employed in a parallel processing mode to give the required number of I/O pins, and data on the shared serial line is coded to separate data streams to the individu...

EFFECTS OF THE HARDENED NICKEL COATING ON THE FATIGUE BEHAVIOR OF CK45 STEEL: EXPERIMENTAL, FINITE ELEMENT METHOD, AND ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORK MODELING

Hardened nickel coating is widely used in many industrial applications and manufacturing processes because of its benefits in improving the corrosion fatigue life. It is clear that increasing the coating thickness provides good protection against corrosion. However, it reduces the fatigue life. Thus, applying a thin layer of coated nickel might give an acceptable corrosion protection with minim...

On the Displacement-Stress Continuous Finite Elements

For the analysis of composite media, three different compatible and mixed finite element formulations are presented which apriori enforce the continuity of stresses as well as displacements at the element interfaces. The formulations are applied for the analysis of hi-material interfaces in two problems often encountered in the field of orthopaedic biomechanics, that is the fixation analysis in...

Improving Networking Server Performance with Programmable Network Interfaces

Networking servers, such as web servers, have been widely deployed in recent years. While developments in the operating system and applications continue to improve server performance, programmable network interfaces with local memory provide new opportunities to improve server performance through extended network services on the network interface. However, due to their embedded nature, programm...

Proposing A Distributed Model For Intrusion Detection In Mobile Ad-Hoc Network Using Neural Fuzzy Interface

Security term in mobile ad hoc networks has several aspects because of the special specification of these networks. In this paper a distributed architecture was proposed in which each node performed intrusion detection based on its own and its neighbors’ data. Fuzzy-neural interface was used that is the composition of learning ability of neural network and fuzzy Ratiocination of fuzzy system as...
